Description
Growing up in Pittsburgh, Jim walked each day to grade school and found shortcuts through a local cemetery. He became interested in the grave markers and later began to appreciate the artistry of various markers. That interest stayed with him throughout his life. His first photograph of a marker was in 1950. His love for creative gave markers grew more and more through his long career. Whenever he and his wife Marilynn could find a few extra hours after an assignment, they'd find the local cemetery and photograph the unique markers. In 1989, the Denver Art Museum presented his solo exhibition "Shadows of Life" which had 62 black and white prints. These cemetery photos are included in this book along with many newer images. The Art of Grave Markers is the culmination of a lifelong dream.
